Report: Arsenal make decision on 'incredible' player ahead of January

Arsenal have decided that they will let Folarin Balogun leave the club on loan during the January transfer window.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners are keen to get the youngster out on loan; although his destination is unclear at this stage.

Balogun hasn’t featured in the Premier League since the second weekend of the 2021/22 campaign.

Instead, he has been starring for the club’s under-23s, scoring 14 goals in just 10 outings during the current season.

He’s comfortably outgrown under-23 action and now, the Gunners want to get him some regular men’s football.

It is claimed that the situation could change. Right now, however, Arsenal are intending to loan Balogun out when the window reopens.

There is likely to be suitors from the Championship and across Europe and the Gunners will pick his destination meticulously.

Arsenal have recognised that Balogun needs to be playing a better standard of football to aid his development.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently the primary striker in the Arsenal squad. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah provide the backup for the captain.

Both backup options could leave the Gunners in January and that could change the landscape for Balogun somewhat.

Exciting: Loan away from Arsenal is next step for Balogun development

Arsenal fans have a desire to see the pathway from youth team to the first-team remain clear but loaning Balogun out does make sense.

Nobody can accuse Mikel Arteta of not handing the youngsters a chance to shine but at this moment he doesn’t fancy Balogun.

He has raved about him though. Back in January, he called him ‘incredible’ during an interview with Goal.

As a result, loaning him out makes complete sense and there will be plenty of interested parties keen to take him for the second half of the season.

If he goes somewhere and scores plenty of goals, he might just be thrust into the first-team fold at Arsenal next season.
