Report: Arsenal make contact over Estevao Willian as PSG bid's rejected

Arsenal have made contact with the representatives of Palmeiras starlet Estevao Willian about a future move for the 15-year-old, according to a report from Goal Brasil.

Of course, the Palmeiras player many in Europe are talking about right now is Endrick, with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain keen to sign the 16-year-old.

But it seems that he is not the only teenager wanted by a number of heavyweights this side of the Atlantic. Goal Brasil reports that PSG have seen a proposal for Willian – also known as Messinho – rejected. A report from Futebol Interior last month suggested that the bid from the Ligue 1 champions was worth just over £30 million.

Meanwhile, both Arsenal and Barcelona have both reached out to his representatives. And Goal Brasil suggests that both plan to monitor Messinho over the next two years before making official offers.

Messinho will not be able to play abroad until April 2025 when he turns 18. So there is likely to be plenty said about Messinho and his future before a final decision is made.

Arsenal may be hoping that they can replicate the deal which saw Gabriel Martinelli move to the Emirates. That move is already proving to be a real masterstroke from the Gunners.

Martinelli needed little time to display the kind of potential he has following his switch. And at 21, he already appears to be an absolutely vital member of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

There is a strong Brazilian contingent at Arsenal. So you would imagine that that will appeal to someone like Messinho, who has time to consider his options.

But much could change in the next couple of years. So it will be very interesting to see how things develop for Messinho at Palmeiras, and how Arsenal kick on after such rapid progress over the last 12 months.
