Arsenal reportedly make contact over 23-year-old who's like Clarence Seedorf, keen on PL move
Arsenal have reportedly made contact over Portugal international Renato Sanches.
Arsenal apparently want to revamp their midfield after a difficult season which saw them fail to land a European spot.
And Sanches is reportedly open to his next destination and feels ready to make a Premier League return.
As well as Arsenal, Liverpool are apparently keeping tabs on the talented midfielder.
Sanches back to his best
Sanches burst onto the scene in 2015-16 with Benfica, helping them to a domestic double.
He then made the Portugal squad for Euro 2016 and helped his nation win the tournament.
Sanches moved to Bayern Munich that summer, but his time at the Allianz Arena sadly wasn’t the most fruitful.
While on their books, he also spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Swansea, then in the Premier League.
However, Sanches was far from his best that year and failed to make much of an impact for the Swans.
After three years on Bayern’s books, he became Lille’s record signing, and his career took off once again.
Indeed, Sanches helped Christophe Galtier’s side win their first Ligue 1 title in 10 years last season.
Arsenal eyeing the next Clarence Seedorf?
Sanches is a versatile player who’s comfortable in central, attacking, defensive, and wide roles in midfield.
His main attributes include physical strength, passing ability, and being composed in possession.
Sanches has previously been compared to Dutch legend Edgar Davids, but the player himself said he’s more like Clarence Seedorf.
“Seedorf, at AC Milan, had a great career and won a Champions League,” Record quoted Sanches as saying in 2016.
“He was a great player, he just played for a while, but he is a reference, even for my position.
“He has a style of play similar to mine.”
