Arsenal have officially made a £45 million bid for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, according to a report by Goal.
The Gunners have moved to notify Los Rojiblancos that they will fork out the release clause in Partey’s contract in order to bring him to the Premier League.
Arsenal have left it late to trigger the release clause and it remains to be seen now if they can complete the deal before the deadline.

According to Football London, a medical is set to take place with the most likely destination for that to be in Madrid.
Atletico have maintained all summer that the Ghanaian will only leave the Wanda Metropolitano if the £45 million clause is met.
Partey is the captain of the Ghana national team and has proved a revelation since arriving at Atletico in 2015.
He has made 188 appearances for Diego Simeone’s team, including three so far during the 2020/21 campaign.
If Arsenal can get a deal over the line they would likely be getting the final part of the jigsaw as far as Mikel Arteta is concerned.
Partey has been constantly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium throughout the summer and it’s a transfer that would excite the club’s supporters.
The 27-year-old has Champions League experience and would give Arsenal the midfield destroyer they have craved for so long.
Missing link
Arsenal teams of old were marshalled from midfield by the likes of Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva and Partey could fill such a void.

The Gunners have started the 2020/21 campaign in decent fashion, winning three and losing one of their opening four games.
Mohamed Elneny has been recalled to the squad by Arteta this season but Partey’s arrival would see the team built around him.
The 26-time Ghana international would complement Arsenal’s team nicely and given his age they’d be signing a player who should be in peak condition.
