Arsenal have placed Jonathan David near the top of their striker shopping list ahead of the summer, with Goal reporting that the Gunners have been scouting the 20-year-old extensively throughout the season.

David has established himself as one of the most young strikers in Europe. He has scored 18 goals in the top flight this term, while he has also contributed seven assists for Gent.

Unsurprisingly, he is attracting a lot of attention.

Goal reports that Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on the starlet throughout the season. And they have decided that he will be one of their top targets should they need to sign a striker this summer.

Goal notes that both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have question marks hanging over their futures at the Emirates Stadium.

The report suggests that £17.5 million is expected to be enough to land the Canadian this summer.

TBR View – David could be bargain for £17.5 million

Arsenal may not need to worry about signing a new striker this summer. Their current group of attacking players is incredibly impressive, with Eddie Nketiah forcing his way into Mikel Arteta’s plans since his return from loan in January.

But David could be a fantastic option to consider should they feel compelled to sign a new goalscorer during the next window.

A fee of £17.5 million could prove to be a real bargain if his form this season is a sign of what is to come.

His career record is already better than a goal every two league games. And it appears to be a matter of time before a big club meets his asking price.

It will be interesting to see whether Arsenal prove to be that club.
