Arsenal are in the market for a new goalkeeper before the transfer deadline.
Aaron Ramsdale is set to join Southampton, and the Gunners need a new number two through the door.
Joan Garcia looks to be Arsenal’s top target in this position, but, in another world, the Gunners would’ve re-signed one of their former players.
Indeed, Wojciech Szczęsny was linked to Arsenal earlier this summer, and apparently the Gunners did make an offer to the Poland international.
Arsenal made Wojciech Szczęsny offer
According to Polish outlet, Meczyki, Arsenal made a serious offer to Szczęsny earlier in this transfer window.
Apparently, Arsenal made Szczęsny an offer that was clear in terms of the role he would play and how much he would earn.
However, the former Juventus man was not comfortable with this offer and he ultimately rejected Arsenal.
In fact, Szczęsny didn’t just reject Arsenal, he’s now quit the game of football for good.
Just this week, Szczęsny announced his retirement from the game at the age of just 34.
This is unfortunate for Arsenal as Szczęsny would’ve been a great signing.

Wojciech Szczęsny would’ve been perfect for Arsenal
Szczęsny would’ve been the ideal goalkeeping signing for Arsenal.
Szczęsny loves the club, he’s been praised as a ‘world class’ goalkeeper in the past, and he’s also a homegrown player.
Indeed, after coming up through the Arsenal system, Szczęsny would’ve been able to be registered as a homegrown player in both the Premier League and the Champions League this season.
After losing the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah this summer, that would’ve been a big help.
Of course, Szczęsny isn’t necessarily good enough to be Arsenal’s number one, but as a backup, he would’ve been a more than adequate replacement for Ramsdale.
Sadly, Szczęsny turned down the chance to return to Arsenal, and now, the Gunners will have to look elsewhere for a new signing.
