Arsenal are considering a £15million transfer swoop for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, as per The Sun. The Bosnian international has fallen out of favour at the Etihad last season and could be set to move on after four seasons with Manuel Pellegrini’s side. This latest speculation follows reports that suggest Gunners target Jackson Martinez has agreed a move to Italian giants AC Milan.
Manager Arsene Wenger is known to admire Dzeko and is considering tabling a £15m bid for the forward, although Pellegrini is thought to be looking for at least £20million for the hitman. Dzeko, who has scored 72 goals throughout 177 appearances (including those as a substitute) during his time in Manchester, is expected to provide competition up front with Olivier Giroud.
Though the French international excelled last term, Wenger is under pressure to sign a ‘top class’ centre forward who could take the Gunners to their first Premier League title in 12 years. Whether Dzeko is the man to do this is certainly open for debate – one suspects that he isn’t. However, if he can be signed for the right price, he would be considered an astute summer addition.
