Report: Arsenal linked Neto will be allowed to leave Barcelona

Barcelona are willing to sell Arsenal target, Neto, for just £13 million during the summer transfer window, according to Marca.

The goalkeeper has played six La Liga games this season but is typically second fiddle.

Neto is keen to play more minutes and boss Ronald Koeman is willing to sanction a transfer in the summer.

That might alert Arsenal who could find themselves in the market for a goalkeeper once again.

Bernd Leno is firmly established as the number one stopper, with Mat Ryan and Runar Runarsson in competition.

Ryan made his debut in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa and is on loan until the end of the season.

Runarsson didn’t cover himself in glory when he started a Carabao Cup tie and he might go out on loan.

Neto is said to be growing frustrated at Barcelona.

He wasn’t in the team for the Copa Del Rey clash with Granada in midweek, with Marca claiming that could be the final straw.

The Brazilian has made 16 appearances in total for Barcelona, arriving from Valencia in 2019. He also has spells with Juventus and Fiorentina on his CV in Europe.

TBR View: Arsenal should tread carefully with Neto move

It’s fair to suggest the Gunners might need another goalkeeper but it hardly seems like a priority for Mikel Arteta.

Spending £13 million on a 31-year-old to essentially act as competition for Leno might seem a bit strange.

Ryan performed well on Saturday and if they can land him permanently he could prove a better piece of business.

Neto earns £65,000-a-week at the Nou Camp and Arsenal must think carefully before forking out for the goalkeeper.
