Reported Arsenal target, Junior Firpo, is a wanted man this summer with Sport now claiming that Italian giants Napoli are in the running for his signature.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Firpo in recent months. The Brazilian defender has also attracted the attention of West Ham, who are keen on strengthening their ranks in the summer.

But Sport now claim it is Napoli who are making their presence known when it comes to Firpo. That report states Barcelona could be ready to accept around £20m for their man, with the club desperate to raise funds this summer.

Firpo is highly-rated and has been compared to Real Madrid star, Marcelo, by Brazilian legend Robert Carlos.

The defender, known for his versatility despite being predominantly a left-back, has struggled for regular game time with Barca this term, making just the six La Liga appearances.

Arsenal, then, will no doubt be keeping a close eye on proceedings as Napoli enter the frame.

TBR View: Firpo a useful squad player but will he really improve Arsenal?

£20m isn’t a huge amount in the modern game but Arsenal will need to be careful with their spending. That begs the question of if signing Firpo should even be a priority.

Kieran Tierney is number one choice anyway, while Bukayo Saka can slot in at left-back if needed. Overall, you get the impression Mikel Arteta might have higher priorities than Firpo

Napoli, then, could see themselves handed a free run at signing the Barcelona man.
