The Daily Express has claimed that Arsenal are beating Newcastle United in the race to sign Celtic goal machine Odsonne Edouard this summer, who has starred in a free-scoring Celtic side.
Edouard, 22, has been on fire for the Scottish champions this season – scoring an enormous 27 goals in 46 league and cup appearances, while also laying on a huge 19 assists. He has a contract at Celtic until the summer of 2022.
The report claims Celtic want a whopping £40million for the ex-Paris Saint-Germain striker, but the current global health crisis has reduced Celtic’s chance of commanding such a fee. Arsenal and Newcastle are both keen.
However, The Gunners are said to be leading Newcastle in the race to sign the France Under-21 international, despite The Toon being ‘very keen’ to land the Celtic star. It remains to be seen whether Edouard would prefer Arsenal or Newcastle.

TBR’s view – Which move would benefit Edouard?
Arsenal have a chance of qualifying for Europe and to work under Mikel Arteta alongside the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and others is tantalising. He would form a reunion with Kieran Tierney.
But unless Aubameyang and Lacazette depart, Edouard would hardly get the first-team game time he requires to show off his goalscoring feats. At Newcastle, he would be first choice – given the poor form of Joelinton.
Surely a move to Newcastle would be much more beneficial for the French striker.
