Arsenal are leading a fierce transfer chase to try and sign Bournemouth starlet Ajani Burchall, according to The Sun.
The 16-year-old made his first-team debut for the Cherries in December, coming off the bench during a 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
Burchall has rejected scholarship terms at the Vitality Stadium, however, and Gunners are ready to pounce.
A Bermudan winger, the teenager has an abundance of pace and is capable of beating opposition defenders with ease.
They aren’t alone in their quest to sign the Championship man though, with several Premier League sides thought to be keen.
Burchall only made a brief outing for the first-team but was also in the squad for a game with Luton a week later.
He has been a regular for the club’s youth ranks, however, and looks like someone who could develop into a fine player.
Bournemouth are chasing promotion back to the Premier League this season, with Jonathan Woodgate currently in temporary charge.
They gave their credentials a boost last night with a slender 1-0 win over Rotherham United and will be fancied given the quality of their squad.
TBR View: Burchall would relish Arsenal opportunity
The youngster would be joining the Gunners at a time when they have some extremely talented youngsters in place.
One big plus for the winger would be that Mikel Arteta has developed a reputation for giving academy players a chance.
The likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka have emerged through the academy on Arteta’s watch, with others also earning opportunities.
Having a manager who is keen to develop youth can only bode well for Burchall and choosing Arsenal could prove a wise career choice.
