Arsenal are reportedly keen on a potential deal for Sevilla defender Diego Carlos, according to a report from El Desmarque.
Arsenal will welcome one new centre-back this summer, with the arrival of William Saliba following his one-year loan spell at Saint-Etienne. However, it appears the Gunners want another central defender to strengthen the area, as they continue to be linked with a host of other names in that position.
Carlos is the latest to join that list.
As reported by El Desmarque, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are now ‘attentive’ to the situation involving the Brazilian, who has been in fine form for the Spanish side in La Liga this season.

Arsenal will not be alone in their interest. It was recently reported by ABC in Spain that Liverpool have been showing an interest in the player as a potential replacement for Dejan Lovren and the injury-prone Joel Matip.
SPORT also reported on Barcelona’s interest in the player earlier this year saying he was a long-term target for the Catalans. It was even suggested that they could offer Sevilla the Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic to make a swap deal happen this summer.
Arsenal are therefore right to be pursuing a player who has been a revelation in Spain since his move from French side Nantes.
However, as reported by ABC, Carlos has a €75 million release clause (£66m) in his deal at the Sanchez Pizjuan, making any potential deal difficult to do in the current circumstances. Carlos himself also told Onda Cero recently that he was not currently interested in discussing his future and that he is happy at Sevilla.
Arsenal should continue to keep Carlos on their radar going forward. However, regarding a move this summer, it seems an unlikely scenario.
