Report: Arsenal keen on bringing Dani Ceballos back to North London

Arsenal are looking into the possibility of bringing back former loanee midfielder, Dani Ceballos, according to reports in Spain this weekend.

El Nacional run the story. They suggest that Arsenal are among the clubs who are ‘very attentive’ to the situation surrounding Ceballos and his spell with Real Madrid. That spell has been a miserable one. He’s yet to start a game this season.

Ceballos did, however, enjoy a couple of productive spells with Arsenal where he made 77 appearances for the Gunners. Indeed, he was part of the team that won the FA Cup, while he also has a Champions League winner’s medal to his name thanks to his time in Madrid.

El Nacional report that Arsenal, along with Juventus and Real Betis are keeping tabs on the Spaniard. Jose Mourinho, too, is also said to be keen on bringing him to Rome.

Ceballos, 25, is said to be open to the prospect of leaving Madrid. His search for first-team football is likely to see Los Blancos agree to his depature.

TBR’s View: Arsenal surely move on from Ceballos?

Nobody is knocking what Dani Ceballos did while with Arsenal last time out, but surely the club needs to move on? They’ve signed Sambi Lokonga in the summer, and gave fresh terms to Granit Xhaka.

Beyond that, Charlie Patino is also emerging, while the likes of Miguez Azeez are out on loan. Therefore, bringing back a midfielder from a previous time doesn’t seem logical.

There just doesn’t seem to be a need to go back for a player who’s already had his chance and time with the Gunners. Indeed, Mikel Arteta has spoken of the need to keep evolving, so going for the Spaniard makes little sense.

Of course, Real Madrid will love there being so much interest. But if Arsenal has any sense, they’ll move on from this one sharpish.
