AZ Alkmaar Fan Page have claimed sources have informed them that Arsenal have joined the race to sign AZ captain Teun Koopmeiners this summer, with Everton previously linked.
Koopmeiners, 22, has been in stunning form for AZ this season – finding the back of the net 16 times in 42 appearances, despite the majority of his appearances coming as a holding midfielder or a centre-back.
Though he is AZ’s penalty taker, his form in front of goal has been in excellent – especially considering his age. He has even netted three goals in this season’s Europa League. Now, Arsenal are interested.
The latest report claims Arsenal are looking to sign the versatile midfielder, while The Sun recently claimed that Everton were interested in Koopmeiners with a cut-price figure of just £12million required.
TBR’s view – Koopmeiners a solid addition
Though he would hardly start for either Arsenal or Everton. The Gunners need central midfielders and with Dani Ceballos returning to Real Madrid, he would be a decent squad player.
But he would hardly be an improvement on the likes of Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira. At Everton, the likes of Tom Davies, Andre Gomes and others would surely be considered ahead of him.
A good addition and cheap at £12million, but hardly a starter for Everton or Arsenal.
