Arsenal and Newcastle United are amongst a group of Premier League sides interested in signing Ivan Toney, but 90min reports that he would like to sign a new contract with Brentford.

Toney has enjoyed a superb first campaign in the Premier League with the Bees. He has scored 12 times in the top-flight. Harry Kane has scored the same number of goals, while only five players have found the back of the net more often.

It comes after he scored 33 times in their promotion-winning season in the Championship. Unsurprisingly, plenty of sides are now monitoring his situation in the hope that he can be lured away this summer.

90min reports that Arsenal, West Ham, Everton, Newcastle and Wolves all want Toney. However, they may all be set for disappointment.

The report notes that Toney is settled with Brentford and is keen to sign a new contract. He reportedly wants a pay-rise given his form in the Premier League.

It is suggested that his asking price would be in excess of £50 million if the Bees did let him go.

Toney has scored 83 league goals since the start of the 2018/19 season. And he has done that across three different divisions now.

Thomas Frank described him as a ‘special‘ player. So it would be no surprise to see him take that next step and thrive if given the chance in the future.

It is a big boost for Brentford that he wants to stay and sign a new contract. But that may not stop the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle testing their resolve to keep him.

There are not many really good strikers around right now. Toney is up there amongst the best in the Premier League at present.
