Report: Arsenal in talks with Tottenham target Tomiyasu
Arsenal are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur target Takehiro Tomiyasu.
What’s the story?
According to the print edition of Corriere Dello Sport (as per The Express), Spurs’ move for the right-back has stalled.
Reports over the last few days claimed the Lilywhites were closing in on a move for the £17.15m Japan international. Alasdair Gold heard from people involved in the deal the north Londoners were confident a transfer would be completed after the Olympics.
However, it seems the Gunners are attempting to swoop in and snatch the player from within the rivals’ grasp.
The 22-year-old is said to be keen on securing his dream move to the Premier League.
Tomiyasu would be an outstanding snatch from the hands of Tottenham by Arsenal
On the pitch, the N17 giants have had the better of the rivalry in north London.
Last season saw Spurs finish ahead of their rivals for the fifth consecutive year.
However, off the pitch, you could say Mikel Arteta’s men have had the better of the market.
The additions of Nicolas Pepe and Thomas Partey are signs the Gunners still retain a strong appeal in the transfer market.
And if Arsenal can snatch Tomiyasu from the grasps of Tottenham, it would prove outstanding.
It would reinforce the point, Arsenal are a bigger club than their rivals despite their dominance on the field.
