Arsenal are reportedly in talks with Gunners academy star Miguel Azeez over a new contract, according to The Sun.
The 18-year-old, who joined Arsenal aged five, is one of the brightest players to have come through the Hale End setup in recent years.
Azeez is a dynamic midfielder equally adept as an anchorman as he is playing at No. 10, and is also viewed as a natural leader and captain material.
The youngster was playing for Arsenal’s Under-18s when he was 15 and didn’t look out of his depth, going on to captain the team by the time he was 17.
Azeez has not only made the step up to the Under-23s but is now in and around the first team, having debuted off the bench in December’s Europa League win over Dundalk.
The playmaker’s current deal expires at the end of the season, meaning he will become a free agent in July as things stand.
According to The Sun, however, Arsenal are currently negotiating with Azeez over a deal that will extend his time at the Emirates Stadium.
Azeez is a prospect of the highest calibre who looks set for great things, and if the report is accurate, then the Gunners are onto a winner here.
He has Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s seal of approval, the Arsenal captain praising him last December in the matchday programme ahead of the Manchester City game.
‘Miguel is going to be a great player in the future,” Aubameyang is quoted by Metro as saying.
“He’s really calm and mature so I’m sure he’s got what you need to be a success and have a big career.”
