Soccer Link have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe is a target for Arsenal this summer, with the Gunners said to be in contact with the player’s father.
Kimpembe, 23, is quickly developing a reputation as one of Europe’s best young centre-backs after breaking in PSG’s side and clocking up 112 appearances for the cash-rice French champions.
Known for his composure on the ball, aerial prowess and speed at the back, Kimpembe has earned eight caps for France’s senior side and also offers versatility – able to play in holding midfield.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also said to be keen, though the Blues are facing a transfer ban. The Daily Star claim Kimpembe is worth £30million, though he does have a contract until the summer of 2023.
Arsenal have long needed a centre-back, with the signing of Sokratis hardly improving Arsenal’s options at the heart of their defence. Shkodran Mustafi has been criticised for his recent form.
Landing a highly-rated centre-back such as Kimpembe would be excellent business for the Gunners, with Koscielny now coming to the end of his career. Years before his peak, Kimpembe would already be the club’s best centre-back.
At £30million, he is a bargain and a must-buy.
