Report: Arsenal hope Odegaard will be available for West Brom

Arsenal are hopeful Martin Odegaard will be available for the Gunners’ clash against West Bromwich Albion.

What’s the story?

According to Sky Sports (via Football Daily), the club are trying to get the Norwegian’s visa issues sorted before Wednesday.

Application issues were the reason the attacking midfielder did not feature for Mikel Arteta’s side in Sunday’s loss to Chelsea.

Odegaard re-joined the north Londoners on a permanent deal last Friday for a fee believed to be £30m.

He spent last season on loan from Real Madrid, making quite the impact for the side.

Odegaard needs a warm-up game

This Wednesday’s game may well look like a nothing outing, but it carries far more importance than you would think.

Sunday’s loss to Chelsea showed, yet again, the team’s lack of creativity. The Gunners are crying out for a player who can unlock a defence and the Norway captain could be that man.

As a result, the 22-year-old is a shoo-in to feature versus Manchester City on Saturday.

But Odegaard needs a warm-up game against West Brom to get himself ready for this weekend.
