The Arsenal board believes Arsenal’s best players could leave if Unai Emery remains at the club.

According to The Daily Mail, there are fears within the club that Emery is making some players hesitant to commit their futures to Arsenal. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are two such examples.

Both players are stalling instead of signing new long-term contracts at The Emirates Stadium. It is believed that they will wait to see whether Emery stays or goes before making a decision.

Emery has struggled to convince Arsenal fans that he is the right man to take the club forward. The Gunners have only won four league games this season, they sit in eighth place and they are eight points off the top four.

Raul Sanllehi (Head of Football) and Edu (Technical Director) have held a meeting with Emery recently. They expressed concerns that some key players might look to leave if Emery stays on due to concerns over his methods, tactics and the club’s Champions League qualification hopes.

TBR’s view

It is getting to the point of no return with Emery. While Arsenal will want to give him time to turn things around, Arsenal fans are quickly losing patience.

Emery has not improved Arsenal since taking over from Arsene Wenger. In fact, the club has even regressed a bit. For the sake of this season and the key players’ futures, it might be best to sack him sooner rather than later.
