Arsenal have now joined the race to sign Memphis Depay, with Super Deporte in Spain reporting that they have already asked about the Barcelona forward ahead of the summer.

Depay could leave the Catalan giants after just one year. He made a great start to life at the Nou Camp, scoring eight goals in La Liga before the end of November.

However, he spent some time on the sidelines due to injury. And he is yet to regain his starting spot in the side. He has not played 90 minutes in the top-flight since December.

Of course, Barcelona have changed manager since his arrival. And it would appear that Xavi is not as big a fan of the Dutchman as Ronald Koeman was.

Super Deporte suggests that he could leave this summer. And he would prefer to return to the Premier League if he does move on.

Previous reports have claimed Tottenham have already made an offer for Depay. But Spurs are not the only English side in the running.

Super Deporte reports that Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle have all asked about Depay.

Depay contract situation opens door for potential bargain for Arsenal

Depay only signed a two-year deal when he joined Barcelona. So they may be keen to offload him this summer if he is not in Xavi’s plans.

That may open the door to a potential bargain for a club like Arsenal. Mikel Arteta definitely needs to strengthen his striker ranks this summer.

Depay has the potential to be a ‘world-class‘ striker on his day. And his strike-rate since leaving Manchester United has been outstanding.

It would certainly excite a lot of Arsenal fans if they could go on and sign Depay – particularly with Tottenham also admirers.
