Report: Arsenal have made their move to bring truly 'wonderful' soon-to-be free agent to the Emirates

Arsenal have made contact with Paulo Dybala’s agent over a prospective Emirates move, according to Calciomercato.

The Gunners have been linked with the Juventus and Argentina star for a number of months now.

However, Arsenal could be up against several other top clubs for one of the best soon-to-be free agents this summer.

As well as the Gunners, the likes of Inter Milan, Newcastle and Tottenham are reportedly eyeing Dybala too.

The 28-year-old’s Juve contract is up in the summer and he’s all-but set to up sticks and find pastures new.

According to Calciomercato – via Sport Witness – the Gunners are now among the clubs ‘interested’ in the Argentine.

Mikel Arteta’s side have reportedly ‘started contact’ with his agent.

Arsenal are seemingly hoping to ‘try to convince’ Dybala to make a switch to England.

The Gunners will almost certainly be on the lookout for new forwards at the end of the season.

Arteta currently has just two senior strikers in his ranks between now and May.

In addition, both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in summer.

Dybala, one of the most high-profile forwards in world football, would fit the bill for Arsenal.

In 284 appearances for Juve, Dybala has registered 113 goals and 48 assists.

He has also captained the team on several occasions.

Dybala’s CV is very impressive – five Scudettos, four Italian Cups and three Italian Super Cups.

“He’s a brilliant footballer”

In March, journalist Rory Smith suggested on The Monday Night Club that Arsenal may be the most likely Premier League side to sign Dybala this summer.

“He’s not really a high presser, so I suspect that rules out Liverpool and even City,” he said.

“I suspect City will sign Erling Haaland, so I expect that’s their striking option sorted.

“United he would be high profile and extremely talented, but is that what United need?

“To go and think he’s available, let’s sign him.

“That’s not worked well for nine years, so my understanding is that they should go and take a different approach.

“He’s a brilliant footballer, Dybala, he’s wonderful to watch. Maybe Arsenal would be the best bet, I guess.”
