Report; Arsenal have made 'serious offer' for £22m prodigy likened to Kevin De Bruyne
Arsenal have made a ‘serious offer’ for Fenerbahce prodigy Arda Guler, according to Takvim.
The Turkish outlet – via Turkish Football – claim the Gunners are one of four clubs who have registered offers.
As well as Arsenal, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax are also in pursuit.
Over the past few years, the Gunners have done well in signing talented prospects and turning them into stars.
The likes of William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli have flourished at Arsenal.
And this year, we’re seeing Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira developing into very promising players.
Meanwhile, Guler is one of the most highly-rated teenagers in the game and is already a regular for Fenerbahce.
The 17-year-old has made 29 competitive appearances for his club and has won one Turkey cap.
Aksam – via the Liverpool Echo – claimed in summer that Fenerbahce value Guler at just under £22million.
However, more recent reports suggest Arsenal – or any other suitors – could land him for less.
Journalist Valter De Maggio revealed on Radio Goal that Guler has a ‘variable release clause’ inserted in his contract.
He will apparently be available for just £4.3million if he plays less than 1,500 minutes of football.
However, if he’s on the pitch for more than that period of time, the clause will go up to £17.3million.
Understandably, Fener president Ali Koc wants Guler to stay at the club until the end of the season.
This is probably easier said than done, however, amid some of Europe’s elite circling with a view to a January deal.
‘Exceptional ball carrier’
Scouting website Foot The Ball wrote an in-depth analysis piece about the young midfielder earlier this year.
‘An advanced playmaker by nature, who likes to be fielded in a free role, where he can roam the pitch,’ they wrote.
‘The Turkish midfielder is very much capable of playing in a deeper role as well.
The standout ability, though would be to find space and pick out passes that very few other players can see.
‘Guler has also great close control and that is shown by his 1v1 dribbling, providing dynamism to his and the team’s final-third play. It doesn’t end here for the Turkish magician.
‘He is an exceptional ball carrier and that proves why he is often called the ‘Turkish Messi’, where he helps push his team forward to produce better chances.
‘His low centre of gravity means that he is very quick off-the-mark, which also helps aid his off-the-ball movements and orchestrate lethal moves from the deep.
‘Much like prime Ozil and De Bruyne his crosses are pinpoint and unpredictable.’
