ESPN have claimed that Marcelino has now held talks with Arsenal over potentially replacing fellow countryman Unai Emery at The Emirates Stadium, and the report claims he wants the job.
The 54-year-old is currently out of work after being sacked by Valencia earlier this season, despite guiding Los Ches to a Cope Del Rey triumph last season – as well as guiding Valencia into the Champions League.
But he was relieved of his duties after a disagreement with Valencia owner Peter Lim. It now sees Marcelino go almost three months without work, but that could be about to end with Arsenal holding talks with Marcelino.
Interim manager Freddie Ljungberg watched his side finally end their dismal run of form that had seen them fail to win a Premier League match since October 6. Arsenal came from behind to beat West Ham at the London Stadium 3-1.

TBR’s view – Is Marcelino a good appointment for Arsenal?
Certainly, Marcelino had an excellent 2018-19 campaign as Valencia manager. But he hardly boasts the trophy-winning calibre that Arsenal will want – something that Emery had after three Europa League titles and a Ligue 1 win.
The Gunners are also said to be keen on the likes of Max Allegri, Mauricio Pochettino and Carlo Ancelotti – and a big-name manager like that would get fans back onside – and sort out the club’s defensive issues.
