Report: Arsenal have considerable interest in 'unbelievable' 22-cap star

Arsenal retain a considerable interest in Tyler Adams, with The Athletic reporting that the Gunners view the 22-year-old as an option to bolster their midfield ranks.

Mikel Arteta’s men are yet to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window. But they have let a number of players go. And with the squad already stretched, Gunners fans may be hoping the final week of the month proves to be a busy one.

Of course, there is a desire to sign a striker. But midfield has also been a real problem in recent weeks. And with that, Arsenal are seemingly looking at potential targets for the middle of the park.

The Athletic reports that they had their eye on Adams in the summer as they targeted a new right-back. Obviously, Takehiro Tomiyasu would fill the void. And the Japan international has gone on to prove an inspired signing.

But the Gunners remain keen on the RB Leipzig youngster. In fact, The Athletic suggests that they have considerable interest. And they view Adams as a potential midfield option with an ability to fill in at right-back.

Arsenal signing Tyler Adams would be superb business after Kimmich comparisons

The USMNT international has made 16 appearances in the Bundesliga this term, while he has also played five times in the Champions League.

Leipzig are surely unlikely to be open to offers for Adams this month. But it would be a real coup for Arsenal to bring him to the Emirates.

He is a player Ralf Rangnick previously compared with Joshua Kimmich. He claimed he has an ‘unbelievable’ will to win, and insisted that the ‘sky is the limit’ for the youngster.

Arsenal have had real success when signing players of around Adams’ age this season. The likes of Tomiyasu, Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White have quickly become key men. Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard has kicked on following his permanent move.

And there is a bright future ahead for players such as Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.

Adding Adams to the ranks would be another brilliant piece of business if there is any chance of a deal.
