Report: Arsenal handed huge boost in pursuit of £102k-a-week international

Arsenal have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa, according to Le10 Sport.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and was heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium during the January transfer window.

Set to become a free agent, Kurzawa – who has made just 14 appearances in Ligue 1 this season – reportedly continues to interest Arsenal.

With the football industry set for a huge financial blow in wake of the global health crisis, the Gunners are seemingly looking at high-profile free transfers such as Kurzawa.

Barcelona were also said to be eyeing the France international, who in turn was said to be keen on a switch to the Camp Nou, as reported by Metro in April.

However, Le10 Sport claims that, with Barca targeting the likes of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and having financial issues of their own, they need to put other deals on hold.

As a result, it is claimed that Kurzawa has “zero chance” of linking up with the La Liga giants this summer, although Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli have also been credited with an interest in the defender.

TBR View:

Although Kurzawa’s form has been somewhat mixed over the past few years, losing his PSG first-team place to Juan Bernat, the £102,000-a-week man is still a high-quality player more than capable of delivering at the highest level.

A dynamic attacking full-back with great football and an eye for a pass – aside from that moment against Dortmund of course – looks well suited to line up in Arsenal’s current system.

That said, Arsenal currently have Bukayo Saka, Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac in their ranks, so would there be room for Kurzawa once all are fit again, and providing they all stay at the club long-term?
