Arsenal goalkeeper holds a desire to leave the Emirates Stadium during the summer transfer window, according to a report by Football London.
The stopper has two years remaining on his current deal but could be a surprise departure from the club ahead of next season.
Leno has been the club’s number one custodian since the departure of Emi Martinez during the summer.
The Argentine left for Aston Villa after helping the Gunners lift the FA Cup at Wembley at the end of last season.
It is not suggested in the report whether or not Mikel Arteta would be willing to allow the German goalkeeper an exit.
He signed for the club in 2018 and has proved himself as an exceptionally gifted stopper on his day.
Leno cost the Gunners £19.2 million and has played 112 times for the club, keeping 31 clean sheets.
He has made 44 appearances for Arsenal during 2020/21 but was on the bench as the Gunners beat Newcastle at the weekend.
Leno is likely to win a recall to the team when Villarreal arrive in North London on Thursday, with Arsenal looking to overturn a 2-1 first-leg defeat.
TBR View: Now could be the time to sign a new goalkeeper
If Leno wants to leave then Arsenal shouldn’t stand in his way. At 29, he isn’t at a bad age for a goalkeeper but the club doesn’t need any passengers.
Although he’s largely been consistent there is a consensus among supporters that Arsenal could do better between the posts.
If they can recoup what they paid or more for the stopper then it could be a piece of business that is worth doing for the Gunners.
The £100,000-a-week star has been in and out of consistency and now could be the perfect time to offload him with just a couple of years to run on his deal.
