Report: Arsenal could now sign striker Guardiola has deemed ‘the best in the world’ for just £25m

To say Arsenal need to bolster their attacking ranks this summer would be a huge understatement.

Mikel Arteta has just two senior centre-forwards at his disposal in Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah.

Lacazette has struggled for form lately, while Nketiah has struggled to make his mark in the league for Arsenal.

Both players are also out of contract in the summer and are increasingly likely to leave the Emirates.

Arsenal need multiple strong new recruits up front, that’s for sure.

In March, Rio Ferdinand urged the Gunners to swoop for one particular striker.

“If I was Arsenal, I would go and buy Gabriel Jesus,” Ferdinand told his FIVE YouTube channel.

Jesus wouldn’t be a bad shout for Arsenal, given his quality, Premier League experience, and young age.

He is also versatile, able to play up front and on both wings.

Now, a new report has emerged claiming Jesus wouldn’t be particularly expensive.

Spanish outlet Marca claim Manchester City would consider selling the 25-year-old for 30m euro (around £25m).

With City reportedly trying to sign Erling Braut Haaland, his arrival would push Jesus down the pecking order.

However, Barcelona are apparently eyeing the Brazil international, so Arsenal would have that to deal with.

“Helped us a lot in many things”

Guardiola is a huge fan of Jesus – in February, he said the forward is the best in the world in one particular aspect.

“He is a centre-forward, he can play there,” the City boss told the club’s media team.

“It is true that lately he played more out wide, where he felt comfortable, with his body shape more open. He can play in the three positions up front.

“And when we need runners and players that help a lot with our high intensity and high pressing, he is the best in the world. Thanks to him we can stay high and be so aggressive.

“He and Phil, when they play in that position they help us get extra rhythm for our midfield players and our back four can stay high for a long time.

“He is a young player who has been decisive in these years. Gabriel helped us a lot in many things and now he will be a father, so it is perfect.”
