Arsenal has reportedly failed to agree on terms with Juventus on a deal that would have seen Hector Bellerin and Daniele Rugani swap places.

According to Calciomercato, discussions have been held over a potential swap-deal but both sides have failed to come to an agreement, meaning both Bellerin and Rugani will stay put, for now.

It comes in the midst of reports last week from Italy that claimed Bellerin was now on the agenda for Juventus as they look to bolster the ranks for their new manager, Andrea Pirlo.

However, any sort of deal that would see Rugani involved in a move to The Emirates now seems off, according to Calciomercato.

The Gunners are thought to be willing to let a number of first-team squad members go this season, with Bellerin among those who could be sold by Mikel Arteta.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is another one who could go, with Tottenham linked with a surprise move for the winger just this week.

Rugani is a talented player but he has never really been more than a back-up option in Turin. The thought, then, that Arsenal might swap someone like Bellerin for him in a straight deal is a bit of an odd one.

Arsenal can probably land a better deal for the Spaniard if they do wish to sell.

Whether that be in cash or for another player, remains to be seen. However, Mikel Arteta and Edu seem to have a plan and they won’t be ripped off you would think during this window.
