Report: Arsenal face competition from league rivals for teenage ace; has a stadium named after him
Arsenal reportedly face competition for the signing of Stade Rennais superstar Eduardo Camavinga from English rivals Manchester United.
According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League giants will shift their attention to the France international after they have wrapped up the signing of Jadon Sancho. Camavinga is also a target for PSG and Real Madrid.
The 18-year-old midfielder is one of Europe’s most sought after youngsters. Camavinga has asserted himself as a key player for Rennes over the past two seasons, and there is a chance the Angola-born ace could move on this summer.
High on Arsenal’s summer list
Arsenal are seemingly keen on signing Camavinga. As reported by Le 10 Sport, the Gunners view the youngster as a top priority. However, Rennes have offered an attractive new contract to the teenager to keep in around beyond this summer.
With Camavinga already having a stadium named after him as per the Daily Mail report, there is a good reason why Arsenal are interested in the teenager. At 18, the Rennes star is one of the most all-around midfielders in Ligue 1.
As a scout report from Total Football Analysis shows, there isn’t much that Camavinga isn’t lacking in his overall game. The midfielder is defensively solid, a progressive passer of the ball and can spring up with the odd goal or two when given the freedom to advance into the attack.
Camavinga would be huge for Arsenal
With United now in the mix for Camavinga, signing him could prove to be an uphill battle for Arsenal.
Yet the Gunners have shown over the years to be able to pull off incredible signings out of the blue, such as Nicolas Pepe and Thomas Partey in recent years.
And with the likes of Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi inching towards the exit door, a new midfielder is needed. And Camavinga could be the perfect player to replace these two departing players given his quality and potential.
