Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a potential swoop for Wigan Athletic forward Kyle Joseph.
Joseph, who plays for League One club Wigan, is believed to be attracting interest from a host of top sides.
According to the Mirror, Arsenal are one of the teams circling for the 19-year-old attacker and they’ve been tracking his progress for “some time”.
It is explained that he will be available on a free transfer in the summer when his contract expires at the DW Stadium.
The report states that the teenager is also on the transfer radars of Scottish heavyweights Rangers and Celtic, as well as other clubs across Europe.
Joseph has made his first-team breakthrough for Wigan this campaign, scoring five goals in 16 senior appearances so far.
The centre-forward is an upcoming prospect that hadn’t kicked a ball in senior football until October 2020, but he’s done enough to have some teams queuing up for him.
It’s not the kind of transfer news that will make Arsenal fans jump out of their seats, but plenty of hidden gems in the lower leagues have made big impacts when stepping up to the Premier League.
For example, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins was playing League Two football only a few years ago.
Aged 19, it’s unclear on what kind of path Joseph’s career will take, being linked with unknown talents though is not always the worst thing.
