Report: Arsenal eye move for Stoke defender Nathan Collins
Stoke City defender Nathan Collins is a target for Premier League outfit Arsenal during the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
The 20-year-old has been bang in form for the Potters during the 2020/21 campaign. He has played 27 times during the current season.
Collins is an uncompromising presence and could now be the subject of summer interest.
Arsenal could be in the market for a centre-back during the window. David Luiz will leave the club and that leaves a void to fill.
Collins would be a somewhat surprise signing, although he is set for a really bright future.
The youngster has risen through the ranks at Stoke and is valued highly by the Championship outfit.
Collins stands at 6ft 3in and really is a man-mountain of a defender in the Stoke squad.
Arsenal finished the 2020/21 campaign in eighth place and improvements are required.
The Gunners have been dreadful defensively at times during the current season and Mikel Arteta is facing a conundrum.
Collins would certainly come in and add some strength to the Arsenal back four.
Despite being a younger player, he does boast old-fashioned principles when it comes to his defending.
Collins could prove ideal for Arsenal
Arsenal won’t be in European competition next season and therefore they might have to cut their cloth accordingly.
The Gunners would be wise to dip into the Championship and signing Collins could prove shrewd.
He is tall, strong and exceptionally good in the air, making him an ideal player to replace the departing Luiz.
Arsenal could certainly benefit from his height at set-pieces and at 20 he has bags of untapped potential.
Stoke probably would sell for the right price and that could alert the Gunners.
Collins fits the profile of an Arsenal player nicely and he could prove a shrewd signing for the Gunners this summer.
