Report: Arsenal expected to make improved second bid for Raphinha

Arsenal are expected to make an improved bid for Raphinha with Leeds United set to reject the Gunners’ opening offer for the Brazilian, according to a report from Sky Sports.

Mikel Arteta’s men have confirmed their interest in the 25-year-old. Reports on Tuesday claimed that they had made a bid for the winger.

The Athletic suggested that Leeds were likely to snub the proposal. Arsenal’s offer fell well short of what the Whites want for their talisman. Previous reports have claimed that Leeds value Raphinha at £56 million.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal are not ready to give up their pursuit. Sky Sports reports that the Gunners are already expected to make a second bid for Raphinha with Leeds set to reject the first offer.

Arsenal to make improved Raphinha bid

Of course, clubs making low first offers seems to be par for the course. It is more a signal of intent rather than a bid made with the expectation of a deal getting across the line.

But it is a dangerous game from Arsenal if they hope to sign Raphinha.

The Times noted that the former Rennes star wants to play in the Champions League amid interest from Barcelona and Tottenham. And, unfortunately for Arsenal, they cannot offer that at this stage.

Their opening bid will surely only increase the likelihood of their rivals making their own offers for Raphinha. He is an ‘unbelievable‘ player and they will not want to miss out.

Raphinha will have his reservations about moving to the Emirates. So watching Arsenal make low bids may not help their cause either.

If the Gunners are that desperate to get him through the door, then they should surely make a more serious offer from the outset rather than waste time with bids that do not stand a chance of being accepted.
