Report: Arsenal expected to launch bid for 'incredible' talent this month; club will sell for £20m
Arsenal are reportedly plotting a formal offer for 23-year-old Sheffield United star Aaron Ramsdale.
The Express claim that the Gunners will launch a bid for the England international this month. The Blades value the goalkeeper at £20m, and as per the report, Sheffield won’t play hardball during negotiations.
Arsenal are eager to sign a goalkeeper this summer, and Ramsdale has emerged as a prime target for Mikel Arteta and Edu.
The shot-stopper was part of the Sheffield United side that finished dead last in the Premier League last season.
Despite this, Ramsdale remains a highly-rated player amongst his colleagues. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp lauded the keeper as ‘incredible’ via Yorkshire Live after the Reds 2-0 win over the Blades in March.
Indeed, the future of Bernd Leno at Arsenal means that Ramsdale might be a potential number one for the north London side in the future should the Gunners complete a deal for the youngster.
The German international has two years left on his current deal with Arsenal. However, there is no indication that Leno will sign a new contract with the north London side.
Arsenal are set for a huge revamp this summer, and the goalkeeping position appears to be an area of the squad where a change of personnel is expected. And Ramsdale could well be a new signing for the Gunners.
