Football website 90Min have claimed that Arsenal are one of five Premier League sides interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva, after reports claimed he would not be offered a new contract with the French champions.
Silva, 35, is out of contract in June and with PSG being handed the Ligue 1 title – it is likely that the former AC Milan and Fluminense defender has played his last game for Thomas Tuchel’s side. L’Equipe claim he will leave PSG this summer.
An 88-time Brazil international, Silva has been regarded as one of the best central defenders in European football for many years – after clocking up seven Ligue 1 titles and 310 appearances for PSG since joining the club in 2012.
But with Silva set to depart, Carlo Ancelotti wants to form a reunion with Silva at Everton – while Arsenal want to bring the South American powerhouse to the Emirates in order to finally plug a leak in Mikel Arteta’s side.
However, Arsenal and Everton are not alone in their pursuit of the Brazilian defender. Newcastle’s potential new owners could also look to sign Silva, while West Ham and Wolves are also said to be interested in Silva.
Clubs from the MLS, China, Japan and Qatar as well as former side AC Milan are also said to be keen.

TBR’s view – Which team should sign Silva?
For all five Premier League sides, Silva would provide leadership and quality at the back for at least another two years. A better question to ask, is which club would Silva be open to joining?
Two things will be crucial for Silva – European football and the ability match his wage demands. Newcastle could be about to have new, ambitious owners arrive and that may tempt Silva – as they could afford his enormous £240,000-a-week (Foot Mercato) wages. But they lack European football.
West Ham will struggle with both, while Wolves have a chance of Europa League football but wages will be a problem. Everton could tempt Silva even without Europa League qualification, but Arsenal is surely Silva’s best chance of both.
