Arsenal have entered early talks with Roma amid interest in midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to a report from The Telegraph.
Mikel Arteta could lose a number of players in the middle of the park this summer. The Telegraph notes that Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi could be on the way out of the Emirates.
Meanwhile, Dani Ceballos’s loan from Real Madrid has come to an end so there are also doubts over his future.
The Telegraph reports that the Gunners have included Diawara on their list of midfield targets. And it is suggested that the club are in the very early stages of talks over a potential move.
The Telegraph notes that no formal bid has yet been made, and Roma are keen to keep Diawara.
TBR View: Diawara could be an exciting signing for Arsenal
Diawara is an excellent holding midfielder. And as he only recently turned 23, he could potentially be a key player at the highest level for years to come.
He is superb at protecting the defence, often using his impressive reading of the game to take up clever positions that allow him to break up the play.
His passing ability is also an underrated part of his game. So it would be no surprise if there were plenty of Arsenal fans hoping that the preliminary talks soon escalate.
