Arsenal were one of several Premier League clubs who considered a move for Jesse Lingard before his loan switch to West Ham earlier this year, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Lingard has been a revelation since moving to the London Stadium in the winter. He has scored six goals and provided three assists in just eight appearances for the Hammers.

Unsurprisingly, the Daily Mail reports that West Ham would like to sign the 28-year-old permanently. But it is suggested that there is expected to be more interest in him.
It remains to be seen which clubs rival David Moyes’s men for Lingard. But the Daily Mail reports that the Gunners considered targeting the attacking midfielder in January.

Meanwhile, Spurs, Wolves and Newcastle all had Lingard on their radar.
Remarkably, Lingard has scored against three of those sides since joining West Ham. Wolves became the latest to concede from the England international on Monday.
TBR View: Arsenal fans may feel conflicted about Lingard links
In hindsight, Arsenal appear to have missed a trick not signing Lingard – who earns £100,000-a-week (via Goal) – in January. However, the Gunners produced their own impressive loan deal in the same window.
Martin Odegaard has shown glimpses of real quality since arriving at the Emirates. And if his loan leads to a permanent move further down the line, Arsenal fans will be absolutely fine with not getting Lingard.
But if Lingard’s form is a sign of what is to come from him, and Odegaard does not stay beyond this season, Arsenal will surely have to think about whether they need to make a fresh move this summer.
