Report: Arsenal confirmed as one of three who want Houssem Aouar, Juventus and Man City also keen

According to a report from L’Equipe, Arsenal are firmly in the running to sign in-demand Lyon midfielder, Houssem Aouar. 

The report, which some via Get French Football News, claims that Lyon are open to selling the midfield star, with Arsenal named alongside Juventus and Manchester City as potential suitors for Aouar.

The Gunners have tracked the 22-year-old for a number of months now. However, it was expected that Aouar would move elsewhere given that Lyon apparently wants around £60m for their man.

But this latest update suggests that Mikel Arteta still has his eyes firmly on the French star, who has already scored four times in 14 appearances for his country.

Arteta is expected to oversee a number of sales at The Emirates this summer. He’ll be hoping, then, to bring in enough funds to be able to make a respectable bid for the Lyon man.

A few months back we’d have said there is no chance of this happening for Arsenal. However, things have changed and it looks like Arteta is dead set on seeing big changes this summer.

A number of players should fetch good money, such as Matteo Guendouzi. Hopefully, that will raise enough money for Arteta to bring in players of sufficient quality.

And Aouar is certainly that. He’s been a class act for a number of seasons now, impressing Pep Guardiola along the way.

If Arsenal can pull this deal off, then it really does have the potential to be a game-changer for the Gunners.
