Arsenal have confirmed that young goalkeeper, Hubert Gracyzk, has signed his first professional contract with the club at the age of 18.

Per the report from the Gunners’ official website, Gracyzk has made 10 appearances in the under-18s this season and has recently been promoted to the under-23s set up.

It appears that Arsenal are moving quickly to tie down their highly-rated youngsters. The situation with Folarin Balogun threatens to leave a sour taste in the mouth of the club, so the move to hand Gracyzk a deal will be welcomed.

The report describes the stopper as someone who is is k’nown for his reaction saves and ability to play out from the back’, which, on the surface anyway, appears to fit with the modern criteria for an up and coming goalkeeper.

Gracyzk will hope to get some first-team action over the coming seasons. Other young Gunners have been handed their chance in the EFL Trophy and Europa League by Mikel Arteta.

TBR View: Arsenal moving quickly with Gracyzk and it’s a smart move

There’s no point nurturing these young players if you are going to lose them for free. That’s what might happen with Balogun and we’ve seen just this week that Sheffield Wednesday lost Liam Shaw to Celtic for nothing.

The Gunners clearly have high hopes for their young goalkeeper and it’s a smart decision to tie him down quickly. Looking in, you’d imagine Mikel Arteta will want to take similar action with a number of his young upstarts.
