Report: Arsenal confirm contract for Jack Henry-Francis
Arsenal are continuing to build for the future and have moved to secure the future of Hale End academy player, Jack Henry-Francis, with the Gunners confirming he’s signed his first contract.
Henry-Francis, 18, is a midfielder who has already played for the both the under-18s and 23s at Arsenal. As confirmed by the club today, Henry-Francis has put pen to paper on a long-term deal to continue his development.
The Irishman will now look to kick on this term despite a number of young midfielders already impressing at the club. Charlie Patino is the obvious name, with the youngster close to being given a first-team chance.
However, Henry-Francis has already impressed Mikel Arteta before. The Gunners boss was full of praise for the teenager, telling The Athletic:
“He has a lot of courage, wants the ball in tight areas and is technically very gifted. You can see physically he’s not fully developed but his intelligence… his brain works quicker than his physique and he did really well when he came on.”
The Gunners, then, might just have another young gem on their hands.
TBR’s View: Arsenal making the right moves
It’s vitally important for Arsenal to tie down their top young talent and Henry-Francis seems to be in that bracket.
Having already caught Arteta’s eye, the future looks a bright one for the teenager. He’ll be hopeful of progressing, too, given the Gunners’ history with young players.
The hard work starts now, though. Henry-Francis will know he’ll need to kick on and keep impressing if he wishes to follow the likes of Saka and Smith Rowe to first-team glory.
