Goal have claimed that Arsenal are confident of completing a deal to sign young winger George Lewis after Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea – though there are some issues still to be completed.
Lewis, 20, has long been linked with Arsenal, after initial reports claimed the Gunners were in talks to sign the Norwegian winger in March. The Gunners have opted to pursue a deal after a successful two-week trial.
The right-footed winger – who can play on either side of the attack – is a free agent having recently played in the lower depths of Norwegian football for clubs such as Tromsdalen and Fram Larvik.
Following trials with Ipswich and Bournemouth, Arsenal are now set to finalise a deal. Goal claim issues still need to be solved, but are confident of a deal soon after the FA Cup final – when transfer-related matters will be looked at.

TBR’s view – Lewis will have plenty of work to do
Expected to join Steve Bould’s Under-23 side in the coming weeks or months, Lewis will find that the Gunners boast plenty of young wingers out wide that are excelling at the moment.
Bukayo Saka has recently been made the club’s number seven, Reiss Nelson has starred in glimpses, Gabriel Martinelli can play out wide and Emile Smith-Rowe has done well on loan at Huddersfield Town.
A string of impressive performances over the course of the 2020-21 campaign in the Under-23 side may tempt Mikel Arteta with a senior chance – but Lewis certainly has some work to do.
