Arsenal might have some competition in their hunt to sign Houssem Aouar this summer, as the Lyon midfielder continues to be the club’s number one target.
Arsenal fans have been furiously refreshing their feeds for weeks now regarding a potential deal for the Frenchman and the latest news is that the Gunners have had two bids rejected for the midfield maestro.
As reported by ESPN, Lyon want €60 million (£55m) for the player but would be willing to accept a €45 million (£41m) deal with potential add-ons. Arsenal’s highest offer for the 22-year-old so far was in the region of €38 million (£34.7m).
So there is clearly hope that Arsenal are getting close on reaching an accord with the French side for a player who would hopefully transform Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

However, they need to be quick, as other clubs are now starting to circle.
As reported by RMC Sport, Juventus have made a phone call to Lyon this week, making their own intentions clear regarding interest in the Frenchman.
Arsenal, therefore, need to move fast to finally reach an agreement and that might mean a hastening to potential exits at the club, with the likes of Sead Kolasinac and Sokratis Papastathopoulos still on the cusp of Emirates exits.
The clock is ticking and Arsenal are now in a race to secure Aouar’s signature before other clubs beat them to the punch.
