Report: Arsenal want £16m PSG playmaker compared to Santi Cazorla, he's already scored at the World Cup
Arsenal are keen on signing Carlos Soler from PSG, according to France Bleu Paris. The Spain midfielder only moved to the French champions in the summer but game time hasn’t been over frequent.
Now, it’s claimed that the Gunners are monitoring the situation. Soler has started just four times in Ligue 1 during 2022/23 and he will be craving regular football.
Soler is viewed as a playmaker in the Santi Cazorla role. He has been compared to the former Arsenal star previously and that might make him an exciting addition for the Gunners.
The midfielder headed to Paris in the summer. He left Valencia after a long-standing association with the La Liga club which had seen him rise through the club’s youth ranks.
He made 226 appearances for Valencia and fans were sad to see him leave. It proved a case of needs must, however, with the £16 million fee received by the club massive in terms of aiding their financial situation.
Soler would be a useful addition to the Arsenal ranks. Given that he’s only just signed for the Paris-based outfit, however, it remains to be seen whether or not it’s realistic.
Arsenal keen on signing Soler
It would appear that the Gunners are keen to stay at the summit of the Premier League. Lots of transfer talk has already begun and it looks like Mikel Arteta will be active in January.
The 25-year-old still has his best years ahead of him and he’s found the net at the World Cup. He played the final 33 minutes as Spain thrashed Costa Rica 7-0 and helped himself to a goal.
Arsenal do have options in midfield. Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka have been in fine form this season but a more attack-minded playmaker wouldn’t go amiss.
Arsenal will want to seize the moment. They currently sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League and a signing like Soler could help them claim the title.
