Report: Arsenal are going to make important announcement later today
Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Albert Sambi Lokonga today, DH Net in Belgium report.
They say that Lokonga is currently staying in London, ahead of his move to Arsenal being finalised.
The Gunners have been linked with the Anderlecht midfielder for some time, but getting the deal over the line has not been a swift process.
It seems that Arsenal are now in the position to confirm his signing.
Two down, more to come?
Lokonga will become Arsenal’s second addition of the summer, following on from Nuno Tavares joining.
Neither of Arsenal’s signings so far have been headline names, but they could both play important roles.
Lokonga should help to bolster their midfield options, especially if Granit Xhaka departs.
Lokonga wore the captain’s armband at Anderlecht despite still only being 22, and his leadership qualities could also be key.
It is not yet clear whether Arteta intends to use Lokonga as a permanent member of his starting line-up.
But his arrival will make competition for places in midfield stronger, and he should help to freshen up this Arsenal squad.
DH Net claim that Lokonga will be given the 48 shirt at Arsenal, the same number he wore throughout his time at Anderlecht.
