According to Spanish publication La Razon, Arsenal and Tottenham are set for battle in the race to sign Getafe prodigy Marc Cucurella during the summer transfer window.
The left-winger has enjoyed a strong season in La Liga and Getafe will pay £5.5 million to land him from Barcelona once the season ends.
It is thought that they could look to cash in straight away, however, with the Premier League duo both eyeing up his £22.8 million release clause.
Getafe have been superb during 2019/20, currently sitting fifth in La Liga as the world breaks for the current global health pandemic.
The 21-year-old has played 34 matches in all competitions, registering five assists along the way.
Cucurella is capable of filling in at left-back too and his versatility would make him a useful signing for both Arsenal and Tottenham.
The North London giant will face competition, however. Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea, Napoli, Ajax and Borussia Monchengladbach are also credited with an interest.
Getafe could make a significant profit on the player if they choose to sell him straight away.
Cucurella does seem like an exciting player with bags of potential and a move to the top-flight would seem intriguing.
Arsenal are somewhat sort of wide options and that would perhaps make sense but Tottenham are pretty well stocked in those areas.
Ryan Sessegnon was signed last summer and Son Heung-min is likely to be fit for next season.
If either Arsenal or Tottenham land Cucurella they will have to ensure that he doesn’t block the pathway for their own youngsters to shine.
Cucrella is quick, direct and likes to take players on making him an exciting sighing for whichever club lands him.
The youngster never made a first-team appearance at Barcelona; also spending time on loan at Eibar.
Moving to England will surely appeal to Cucurellla and it’ll be interesting to see either Arsenal or Tottenham can tempt him into a move.
Both clubs look set for busy summer windows and as a result, the winger could prove ideal for both.
