Turkish Football have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are still keeping tabs on AS Roma winger Cengiz Under this summer, despite the Turkish sensation being in talks to sign a new contract.
The 21-year-old has shone for Roma since joining the club from Istanbul Basaksehir in the summer of 2017. He had a a hand in 16 goals this season, scoring six times and laying on another 10 assists in just 32 outings.
A 17-time Turkey international already, Under has enormous potential and that has seen both Spurs and Arsenal become interested. Both sides have been linked with the wide man for some time.
The latest report suggests that Roma are in contract talks with Under, but that Spurs and Arsenal are monitoring the situation. It is believed Roma will not sell Under for anything less than £44million.
It is believed that a deal is yet to be reached between Roma and Under’s representatives, and that the player is keen on chancing his arm in the Premier League. He currently earns just £17,000 a week at Roma.
Under is an excellent talent. Scoring goals at the highest level, including the Champions League and already an established member of his national side – Under is one of Europe’s best under-23 talents.
But the positives do not stop there. His price tag is somewhat cheap given the current market. A 21-year-old in excellent form for one of Europe’s best sides would normally cost a whole lot more.
His contract is tiny in the grand scheme of things – even in comparison to Tottenham’s wage structure. For either Spurs or Arsenal, Under would be an excellent addition, both on and off the pitch.
