Report: Arsenal and Tottenham both ready to bid £13m for Rodrigo Becao

Italian outlet Tutto Udinese claim that North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in signing Rodrigo Becao in January.

The Udinese defender will enter the final 18 months of his contract on New Year’s Day, and he is a wanted man. A number of clubs have been linked with a move to sign him, including the two North London giants.

Arsenal and Tottenham ready to bid £13m for Rodrigo Becao

Becao has been at Udinese since joining them from EC Bahia in the summer of 2019. He has played over 110 times in all competitions so far, but there’s a good chance he may not stay there for much longer.

The report claims that the 26-year-old, whose current contract expires in 2024, is yet to reach an agreement with Udinese to pen an extension. Le Zebrette have offered him a new deal with an improvement in salary, but Becao apparently wants wages on par with the club’s two biggest stars, Roberto Pereyra and Gerard Deulofeu.

Talks between the player’s representatives and Udinese have stopped as a result, and the next round of discussions have been pushed at least until the start of next year.

That has opened the door for interested parties to make a move, and the report claims that Premier League trio Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur along with Italian giants AC Milan are all interested.

It has further been claimed that the three English sides are willing to table a bid in the region of £13.09 million to sign Becao in the January transfer window.

TBR View:

Arsenal have been absolutely brilliant so far this season. They are on top of the Premier League table and some good business in the winter window could help them go all the way.

Tottenham, on the other hand, haven’t played well at all, but they’re still fourth in the table – just three points behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. That’s not a bad place to be in at this stage of the season.

The January transfer window could prove to be massive for the two North London clubs. It could completely define their season, but whether a player like Becao is the one that could make that happen remains to be seen.

We can’t see where the Brazilian will fit in at Arsenal, but Fabio Paratici knows the Serie A better than most other people, and if he’s convinced that Becao would be a good addition to Conte’s side, Tottenham fans should trust him.
