Report: Arsenal and Tottenham both make move to sign £30m star after he scores at the World Cup
Arsenal and Tottenham have made contact over the signing of Ghana and Ajax’s World Cup star Mohammed Kudus.
90Min report that the north London rivals are among the host of clubs who have registered their interest in the 22-year-old.
They say that Newcastle United have also asked about Kudus, while Everton also retain an interest after coming close to signing him in the summer.
Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Lyon, Napoli and Atletico Madrid are also said to be hovering and it could be an almighty race to sign Kudus.
Arsenal and Tottenham make contact over Kudus
The report says it is not a case of clubs basing their interest on Kudus’ performances at the World Cup, but they have offered a reminder of his quality.
They say that Kudus has struggled to establish himself in Ajax’s team this season, with just five league starts to his name.
Kudus scored twice in Ghana’s crucial World Cup win over South Korea yesterday and earned himself the player of the match award.
The report says that Ajax want £30 million for Kudus, which is in the same ballpark as the fee mooted for fellow Eredivisie and World Cup star Cody Gakpo.
That is within Arsenal and Tottenham’s capacity to pay but it remains to be seen whether either side takes the plunge mid-season.
Arsenal seem to want a new central midfielder and a winger in the winter window to boost their bid for glory, and Kudus is more of a number ten who is capable of playing further back or as a false nine if needed.
