Report: Arsenal and Newcastle join Tottenham in race to sign Bayern star

French site Jeunes Footeux claim that Arsenal and Newcastle have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Bayern midfielder Corentin Tolisso.

Tolisso, 27, is out of contract at the end of the season – with his tumultuous Bayern spell coming towards an end. He is struggling for game time.

The 2018 World Cup winner joined Bayern in 2017 – and instantly starred for the Bundesliga champions. But he then suffered an ACL injury.

It limited Tolisso to just four appearances in 2018-19, and only 28 in 2019-20. In 104 appearances for Bayern, he has scored 19 and created 13.

But that is not enough to earn a new deal. This season, he has played eight times – only starting twice for Bayern. Tottenham are being linked.

Tottenham, Arsenal or Newcastle: Which club should Tolisso join?

Of the three clubs, Arsenal need him the least. The Gunners completed a permanent deal for Martin Odegaard in the summer.

They also brought in Albert Sambi Lokonga. Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Mo Elneny and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are also options in midfield.

Tottenham need a midfielder – lacking in options. Harry Winks replaced Oliver Skipp on Sunday; Gio Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele too attacking.

But Newcastle have got to be all over Tolisso – perhaps a loan in January before making a deal permanent. He is the high-calibre signing they need.
