Report: Arsenal and Manchester United are both in 'final discussions' to sign Joao Felix

According to Le10 Sport, Arsenal and Manchester United are both in advanced negotiations to sign Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix in January.

The two Premier League rivals are in need of a new striker. They’ve both been linked with numerous names in recent weeks, but if the report is to be believed, they’re going head-to-head in the race to sign Felix.

Arsenal and Manchester United are both in ‘final discussions’ to sign Joao Felix

Atletico Madrid splashed an eye-watering £113 million to sign Felix from Benfica back in the summer of 2019 (BBC). Three years on now, it’s safe to say that things haven’t worked out.

Atleti CEO Gil Marin publicly revealed earlier this month that the relationship between the player and the manager is not at a great place. He opened the door for a transfer in January, and that has alerted a number of clubs.

Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly two of them.

The report claims it is ‘very likely’ that Felix’s next move will be to the Premier League. They reveal that the attacker is in the heart of a ‘final match’ between Arsenal and Manchester United, with the two sides set for a ‘big battle’ to secure his signature.

The outlet further claims that Jorge Mendes and the two clubs are currently in ‘final discussions’ about a move and the deal ‘has entered its final straight line’.

In a system that suits him, Felix is a phenomenal player.

Still only 23, the Portugal international can play everywhere in attack and he’s capable of both, creating and scoring goals. He is a fantastic player, and his technique and vision have been labelled as ‘flawless’ by All Football App in their scout report.

Arsenal lost Gabriel Jesus to an injury during the World Cup and the Brazilian is set to spend about three months on the sidelines. That is a humongous blow for the Gunners, who are in a really good position in the league table.

A new striker in January could give them the push they need to go all the way, but whether they can beat Manchester United to sign Felix remains to be seen.
